also spelled THEUDEBALD, French THÉODEBALD, or THIBAUD (d. 555), Merovingian king of Reims from 547 or 548, in succession to his father, Theodebert I. He proved incapable of continuing the latter"s dynamic policies. He left no son, and on his death his kingdom passed to his granduncle, Chlotar I.
